Why I built this site

My notes were scattered across notebooks, my phone and my memory. This is the attempt to fix that.

1min read

For a while now I have wanted a place to write down what I learn, and I kept not making one.

The problem with my notes so far

They are scattered. Some are in a notebook, some are on my phone, and some are only in my head, where they quietly disappear. When a topic comes back in a later semester I end up relearning it from scratch — which is a waste of the one thing I do not have extra of.

Why a website and not just a folder

Two reasons.

  1. Writing for an audience forces you to actually understand it. If a note is only for me, “the controller does the thing” is enough. If someone else might read it, I have to say which controller and which thing.
  2. It is somewhere the work can be seen. Marks are a private signal. A page of notes, a small project, a tool somebody actually uses — those say more about how I work than a grade does.

What is going to be here

  • Notes from courses and labs, written the same day while the lecture is still annoying me
  • Projects I am part of, including the ones where I am not the person writing the code
  • The things I get wrong and have to fix, because that is usually the interesting part

I will not promise a post every day. I will promise that whatever ends up here was real.

Happy 20th birthday, Kerven!

Wishing you all the best on your day. Keep doing what you are doing — you are on the right track, and you will achieve greatness.
